The Toronto Phantoms is a franchise primarily recognized by the Arena Football League. The team began in the AFL as the New York CityHawks in 1997. The team relocated following the 1998 season to Hartford, Connecticut, where the team would rebrand itself the New England Sea Wolves, which would play for another two seasons. After the 2000 season, the franchise relocated again much farther north to Toronto, Ontario, Canada; the only team in AFL history to be based outside the United States. Then called the Toronto Phantoms, the team would play for two seasons a third time before folding after the 2002 season.
