The New York CityHawks is a franchise primarily recognized by the Arena Football League. Entering the league in 1997, the team was ill-prepared for the quality of the league, posting two straight double-digit losing seasons. Following the 1998 season, the team relocated to Hartford, Connecticut to form the New England Sea Wolves, who would play two seasons before relocating a second time to Toronto, Ontario, the only team in AFL history to be based outside of the United States, to form the Toronto Phantoms. The Phantoms would fold after two seasons of play.
