The Iowa Barnstormers are a former franchise primarily recognized by the Arena Football League. The original team was founded in 1995 and was based in Des Moines, Iowa. The team lasted until the 2000 season, when the team relocated to Uniondale, New York, and was then renamed the New York Dragons. The Barnstormers would go on to form in the af2 for a single season in 2001, but closed operations afterwards. In 2008, the Barnstormers of the af2 were revived and continued to compete in the league until 2010, when they rejoined the AFL after the New York Dragons ceased operations and the league returned following a year of absence. The Barnstormers left the AFL for the Indoor Football League following the 2014 season.
